Tell us one more fun fact about you: I attended a seminary to receive my Master’s Degree in Theology with Deaconess Certification and I am a commissioned deaconess within the Lutheran Church. The Lutheran deaconess is essentially the Lutheran equivalent of a nun. However, we are not cloistered in monastic or religious orders but are vigorously educated in theology as we attend most of the same classes as our pastors. We do not take vows of poverty or celibacy but are committed to serving Christ through works of mercy. The mission of House of Ruth truly calls to the mercy led piece of my deaconess heart!
