Position Title: Maintenance Support Worker
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Property Management
FLSA Classification: Part-time/Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
House of Ruth, a nonprofit HIV/AIDS services organization, seeks a Maintenance Support Worker to perform maintenance and repair duties at its physical properties that include administrative offices, a homeless shelter with Single Room Occupancy rooms and multiple single family homes. This position is part-time, three days per week (24 hours), with paid lunch.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years of professional experience in residential maintenance and/or remodeling
- Working knowledge and basic skills in carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, painting and General Remodeling.
- Experience in use of power tools, saws/drills/air tools
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
- Proven time management skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Reasonable computer skills and the ability to work with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of any information received
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and appropriate auto insurance
Responsibilities:
- General maintenance and repairs of House of Ruth physical properties
- Help in supervision of temporary skilled and unskilled labor help
- Be available for any afterhours/week-end HOR property emergencies
- Serve as liaison between House of Ruth and contract service providers
- House of Ruth vendor contact information must be kept in cell phone
- Use agency-owned motor vehicle to pick up supplies, donations and materials
- Conduct regular inventory of custodial supplies
- Custodial duties: Taking garbage cans out and some cleaning/mopping as needed
- Maintain supply and equipment storage areas in an organized manner
- Help maintain materials, tools and supplies in the garage, gym and van in an organized manner once per week
- Assist with Food Pantry when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to multi-task in a sometimes stressful and fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work under conditions which require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stooping, both in office and community environments
- Considerable driving required in local area
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Some maintenance tasks may require the use of ladders
